My name is David Golding and I have been on the internet since 1995 — to put that in context, that’s two months after Netscape 1.0 and seven months before Windows 95. I have been blogging for eleven years on topics such as the internet, politics, books, movies, music, beer, and whisky.
I have a Bachelor of Science with a major in computer science, and I have been working as a programmer for twelve years. Amongst other things, I have developed public web sites, web applications, and web services for Monash University, ANZ, the Victorian Electoral Commission, Macquarie, Department of Education, Bicycle Victoria, Telstra, and Australia Post.
I created this weblog for my Writing and Editing in Digital Media course at the University of Melbourne. The blog will cover the same topics as the course:
- The web as a publishing platform and communication tool
- Web-specific style and conventions
- The web audience — participation, interaction
- Social media and using the web as a promotional tool for writers and publishers
- Credibility, ethics, and legal issues
In addition to reading my blog, you can email me or follow me on Twitter.
I am married and have two small children.
